Design

As the founder of three online magazines, Culturedarm, The Shimmering Ostrich, and Tepid Take, I have extensive experience as a creative director and brand manager. This incorporates website design, primarily in the realm of template customisation, with the addition of some custom-built elements using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and logo design, including the processes of refinement and identity development.

With Culturedarm, the core elements of the magazine’s brand identity – its abstract logo and the accompanying text, which uses a customised version of the Abril Titling font – can be separated out into their component parts and simplified for use in black and white prints, on embroidered clothing, and on packaging, endlessly versatile while maintaining the brand’s unique and distinctive character. I have also designed figurative logos for local sports teams, including Rufforth Tennis Club in York.

I have designed, typeset, and laid out the pages for magazines and posters relating to special events and physical copies of Culturedarm, and designed dozens of branded T-shirts. An artist in watercolour, a keen photographer who incorporates photography into both online media and merchandise, I am fluent in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, with additional experience in Premiere Pro and After Effects.
