Translation

A native speaker in English, with a PhD in English literature from the University of York courtesy of a thesis in the works of James Joyce, I am proficient in Swedish, and currently live in the north of Sweden with my partner of thirteen years. I possess a basic level of understanding in French, German, and Russian.

I have worked as a freelance translator for Umeå University, carrying out editing and translating work for the Unit of Pediatrics as part of the Department of Clinical Science, based at Umeå University Hospital. My freelance work has primarily involved the translation of surveys and questionnaires, from English into Swedish and vice versa, which are sent out to the parents of infants involved in the department’s projects. For the online magazine Culturedarm, I have transliterated nineteenth-century and modern Russian poetry, from Cyrillic into Latin script.

In addition to my editing and proofreading work, I offer full translation services from English into Swedish and from Swedish into English, in academic, fiction and non-fiction, script, website, and consumer texts.
